Sunday July 24, 2022

Since John Walters declared Errol Linton “the future of British blues” in 1993, this Brixton-born gentleman has plied his trade and honed his craft at home and around the world. Over the decades, Errol has collaborated and performed with many big names in music from the blues world and beyond, including Bo Diddley, Tony Allen, Abram Wilson, Doctor John, Screaming Jay Hawkins and, most recently, guitarist American Joe Bonamassa. Linton contributes haunting harmonica on “Lookout Man” from Joe’s 2021 Grammy-nominated album “Royal Tea” recorded at Abbey Rd. Errol has produced several albums himself; the last two studio albums in collaboration with Brassdog records are his first on Vinyl. “Packing My Bags” (“Chess Records meets Studio One”) recorded at the famed Dean St Studios and “No Entry” recorded at the equally iconic Toerag Studios were major critical hits for Errol and his band. After 30 years as a singer, songwriter and world’s finest harmonica player, Errol and his outstanding band are still among Britain’s hardest working bands, performing in the capital at least 4 times a week, making the Errol Linton band the hottest, happening gig. you are likely to go. As well as sold-out gigs at Jazz Cafe & Nells this year, the band have headlined numerous music festivals over the years, including Cerys Matthews’ Good Life Festival in Wales. Errol’s band includes some of the most sought after and respected musicians in the music industry. Suffice it to say, in the words of author and journalist Garth Cartwright; ‘that Errol Linton leads Britain’s finest blues band. Or, maybe it should read, Britain’s finest band. ‘Britain’s Greatest Blues Performing Artist’ – Cerys Matthews ‘Simply Wonderful… The Whole’ – UnCut Magazine. ‘Rich. Original. Beautiful.’ -Mojo
