Bobby Weir and Wolf Bros. shared the recording of “West LA Fadeaway” included on the band’s upcoming live album, Bobby Weir and Wolf Bros: live in Colorado, to arrive via Third Man Files on February 18, 2022. The album will mark Weir’s first release with the Jack White– founded an independent label.
Bobby Weir and Wolf Bros: live in Colorado presents a collection of songs recorded during the ensemble’s summer 2021 performances at the historic Red Rocks Park and Amphitheater in Morrison (June 6-7) and the Gerald R. Ford Amphitheater in Vail (June 11-12).
The four-night run from Colorado marked the first live shows in over a year by the ensemble with Weir, bassist Don was, drummer Jay Lane, and recently added keyboardist Jeff Chimenti (Death & Company). The shows also featured Greg Leisz on pedal steel as well as The pack of wolves: Alex Kelly (cello), Brian Switzerland (trumpet), Adam Theis (trombone), Mads toll (violin), and Sheldon Brown (drink).
As Weir explained of the Colorado tour in a press release, “I’ve been working in my spare time on expanding the sonic coloration of the songs I do. The Wolfpack is basically a step towards a full orchestration – and besides, I must say, these guys are in. We worked on the arrangements a little bit, but in the end we had to tell everything and play it for people – and at that point, people Colorado reached out and said they were going to open. Holy shit, WTF? Let’s go.”
According to a statement from a Third Man Records representative, “When Don approached us about this project, of course, we all jumped at the chance. The whole live music experience is so important to everyone here at Third Man Records and the chance to work with some of the greatest of all time, well, that seems like a miracle.
