Former couple Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie own a winery in France famous for making rosé wines.

Chateau Miraval is the wedding venue of Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie, but it’s also the estate that has earned a reputation for producing quality rosé wines under the direction of the Perrin family of winemakers over the past decade. It is a winery with a terraced vineyard surrounded by pines, olive trees specializing in rosé wines. The winery currently sells quality wines on the market that have been produced with a passion for the craftsmanship of the vines in the winery. The estate’s products reflect the values held by Château Miraval from the outset. Aside from the cellar, the property is so much more, which is probably why the ex-Hollywood couple bought the estate.

History of Château Miraval

Château Miraval was once owned by French pianist and composer Jacques Loussier, but long before he owned the estate, it was the home of French nobility. The property housed the French nobility in the 15and century because it served as the private residence of Prince Orsini of Naples when he joined the French court. For the next four centuries, the huge estate belonged to the Orsini family. However, before it became the property of the Orsini family, it served as a host for monastic practices in the 13and century.

The massive property is just a simple house, it was not until the 1850s that it was first used as a cellar. This is the initiative that was led by the then owner Joseph-Louis Lombort, who decided to build the main cellar. When the property was obtained by Jacques Loussier in the 1970s, he decided to maintain the wine production. He also set up a recording studio in 1977 where top artists recorded including Sting, Cranberries and Pink Floyd. It wasn’t until 2008 that Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie decided to purchase the property after renting it for three years and exercised their option to purchase. It was reported that the ex-couple bought the estate for around $28 million.

Property details

The estate is a sprawling 1,000 acre lot located in the village of Provence. The 405-hectare property is huge and can hold all the luxuries one would expect from a celebrity home. In addition to the vineyard, Château Miraval has several structures that even date back to the 17and century including the Romanesque chapel where the former Hollywood couple got married, a lake, olive groves, a pine forest and a moat. The estate has a main house which consists of approximately 35 rooms and features amenities such as a spa, gym, home cinema, helicopter pad, and indoor and outdoor swimming pools.

Château Miraval sits on a figurative gold mine that produces quality wine as well as a variety of honey, olive oil and truffles. The estate also benefits from an exemplary terroir conducive to organic farming. The wine estate is managed in partnership with the Famille Perrine family, which manages the local services as well as the breeding of products and the distribution of Château Miraval wines. The grounds of the estate are home to thousands of oak trees that support the growth of a variety of truffles, 3,000 olive trees that create abundant olive oil, and hundreds of beehives that can produce an enormous amount of honey. There are also approximately 60 acres of land set aside for growing Cinsault-Grenache-Syrah blend grapes.

Future plans and current state of succession

Château Miraval currently produces many products that are available on the market. One of their products is L’Huile d’Olive Miraval which comes with a black stoneware bottle containing blended extra virgin olive oil. It was produced from olives grown on the estate and local organic Pichouline, Tanche, Lucques, Aglandau, Cayon and Arboussane olives. It was also announced in 2021 that they will be releasing a new wine called Muse de Miraval 2021, the latest vintage of the property’s top cuvée which is set to be released in April 2022.

It was reported by Architectural Digest in December 2021 that Brad Pitt intended to restore the recording studio in the estate built by Jacques Loussier. Brad Pitt will work with French producer Damien Quintard to preserve the existing drum room and equip the recording studio with a console, recording booths and workstations. He also intends to add modern technological elements in the studio, such as the Dolby Atmos sound system and other advanced technologies.
