#3 Owls set for ASUN Championship

KENNESAW, Ga. Kennesaw State Baseball travels to Fort Myers, Florida as it begins its quest for the 2022 ASUN Baseball Championship. The Owls begin play with three games in Pool A as they seek to qualify for Friday’s group knockout game.

BROADCAST INFORMATION

Every game will be streamed live on ESPN+ and the KSU Owls app. ESPN+ links will be available daily on KSUOwls.com while Alexander NolanTrey Fowler and Michael Goss will have the KSU Owl Network radio call available online through the KSU Owls app, KSUOwls.com and TuneIn. The “Owl On-Deck Show” begins 15 minutes before the first pitch of each game.

THE BEGINNINGS OF DIAMOND

the ryan coe The era begins with many new faces on the diamond in 2022. KSU has 23 players who are in their first year with the baseball program. This makes up 58% of the team’s roster.

TOP-3 NATIONALLY
Josh Hatcher is currently in the top 3 in the country in two offensive categories. The KSU center fielder is tied for the national lead in doubles (25) and ranks third in hits (96). With his double Friday at Liberty (May 20), Josh Hatcher recorded his 25th of the season to break Kennesaw State’s single-season record.

IT’S TIME FOR MONEY
Silver Donovan exploded onto the scene in his first year as a starter. The first baseman is first on KSU in multi-hit performance (28) and ranks second in batting average (.367). He was awarded ASUN Player of the Week on May 16 after hitting .600 with four home runs, five doubles and 11 RBIs in four games.

BIKE IN THE RECORD BOOK… TWICE

Against No. 12 Georgia Tech on March 23, Josh Hatcher became the first owl in the program’s Division I history to hit for the cycle. Hatcher finished the game 4-on-6 with two RBIs. Two games later, Hatcher struck again for the cycle in a 4-on-6 performance against UNF.

THE DOUBLE QUADRUPLE

March 18 vs Jacksonville, KSU center Josh Hatcher became the first player in Owl history to record four doubles in one game. The leadoff batter finished the game 5-for-5 and compiled eight hits on the streak.

2 GETS #200

In a 4-on-6 performance against No. 12 Georgia Tech, senior Tyler Simon became the 10th player in KSU history to reach the 200 hit mark. The shortstop achieved the feat in his 191st game wearing the black and gold.

SURGE

Friday night against Jacksonville (April 22), Young Cash became the second player in KSU history to hit three home runs in a single game. The third baseman posted a streak of 10 homers in 13 games. Young leads the team with 15 overall and is currently tied for the Kennesaw State single-season home run record.

HATCHER HITS 200

Against No. 16 UGA (May 3), Josh Hatcher doubled a single to right field on his third at bat to record his 200th career hit. The transfer from Mississippi State totaled 88 hits this year and compiled 126 in his first four years in the SEC.
